Hi, we're Ethan & Jane.

Our Matcha idea began right here in Vancouver with a simple question:

Why is it so hard to find truly authentic, high-quality Japanese matcha?

As matcha lovers ourselves, we noticed that while matcha had become increasingly popular, many people had never experienced the rich flavor, craftsmanship, and tradition behind genuine Japanese matcha.

Then, I thought of one of my best Japanese friends, who had spent over a decade working in Kyoto's matcha industry. When we started talking about matcha, we instantly clicked. Jane and I soon set off on a trip to Japan to explore the world of matcha firsthand. Through countless conversations, tastings, and learning experiences along the way, we discovered a world of matcha that was deeply rooted in Japanese culture, history, and an unwavering dedication to quality.

Later, we found that the more we learned, the more we felt that this was exactly what Vancouver—and Canada—had been missing.

That's why Kintaro Matcha Hut was born.

The name "Kintaro" comes from one of our favorite Japanese folktales. Known for his strength, optimism, kindness, and adventurous spirit, Kintaro embodies the values that inspire our brand today.

To us, matcha is more than just a drink. It's a daily ritual—a small moment to slow down, be present, and enjoy something made with care. Whether it's a traditional bowl of matcha or a morning matcha latte, we believe that truly high-quality matcha can have a positive impact on both your well-being and your daily lifestyle.
